If you want the best midsize crossover on the market right now. Do not look any further than this 2023 Volvo XC60 Recharge. It’s as simple as that!

This XC60 Recharge is one of the most comfortable, quietest, smoothest, quickest and efficient vehicles on the road today.

Yes…a Volvo…SUV

Let’s go ahead and break it down:

The Great

Power

Efficiency

Handling and Ride

Power

Here is a vehicle with a turbocharger AND a supercharger bolted to a 2.0 liter 4 banger that is powering the front wheels, then you have 2 electric motors powering the rear wheels an 8 speed automatic in the middle along with a massive battery pack somewhere in between. The driving experience should be surgey, lagey or just plain confused but it isn’t. Somehow Volvo has combined all of those disparate pieces into a beautifully cohesive drivetrain package that smooth as ghee…ghee with power because this sucker makes 455 HP!

So that gives the XC60 a hilarious 0-60 time of 4.5 seconds!! Which is faster than an Audi SQ5! It’s not all about power…its about that ghee!

Around town you can easily modulate the power delivery and create a blissful, relaxing drive and when the opportunity present itself…just put your foot down…and hold the frack on!

Efficiency

The XC60 Recharge gets a supposed 28 mpg in combined driving.

It’s a lie.

Because it’s more than that…a lot more than that

Because it took entire 4 (not so gentle) days for the gas gauge to move a millimeter and by the time the loan was up…we averaged almost 40 MPG!

Handling and Ride

Our XC60 came with the optional air suspension and it’s worth every single penny. Instantly adapting to road surfaces and delivering a ride that most automakers would dream of creating…the XC60 can go from beautifully comfortable to flinging into a corner via a tap on the huge infotainment screen

The air suspension will also lower itself upon Sport mode and for entry/egress.

The steering delivers plenty of feedback and while it has some capacitive controls which are annoying…overall it’s a very pleasant unit.

The Good

Infotainment

Seats

Infotainment

This newest iteration of Volvo’s lovely infotainment system is still one of the best out there. Combining crisp graphics, fast processing and a simple to use interface that is somehow resistant to finger smudges!

Seats

The seating surface in our tester was a lovely combination of wool that felt like the world’s softest denim. Instantly comfortable, supportive and resistant the horrid Georgia heat…this seating material is superb! To all the manufacturers out there…BRING BACK MORE CLOTH!

Add that along with a gorgeous seat design that could be AMA approved to heal back pain…makes this one of the best cabins on the market today.

The Bad

Price

Price

At $63,345 for our as tested price…this thing ain’t cheap.

Okay…it’s expensive because it places the XC60 in the crosshairs of the X4 M40i, SQ5 and the GLC43.

The Ugly

Nothing

Nothing

So here is a cat

Overall:

Once more for the people in the back…this is quite possibly the best crossover I have ever driven.

I would actually buy one…if I could find one (thank you global supply chain issues)

It’s that good.
