An oldie but a goodie. That’s the overall theme when it comes to the Toyota Tundra. Minus the disappointing Titan, every other competitor is jammed pack with more features, technology, better gas mileage and power. But driving a Tundra back to back compared to let’s say a F series shows the old girl still has some moves.

The steering is a delight compared it’s domestic brethren. It’s light enough to easily navigate a parking lot but it’s not overboosted to completely detach you from the driving experience. The sightlines are great, the supercrew has a phenomenal amount of room and the sounds the 5.7 makes is one of the best on the road. Interior won’t floor you with sheer opulence but the material quality is still very good and the overall NVH is competitive as well.

We live in an era where the full size pickup is supplanting the luxury car. So tech is what sells and unfortunately that’s where the Tundra loses its footing. 360 cameras, self parking, massaging seats, panoramic roof along with a not crappy infotainment system… are just absent from it’s options list. Gas mileage is on the verge of pitiful and overall…the Tundra just feels like a step behind the rest.

Does that make the 2020 Toyota Tundra a bad pickup? No, not at all. I would get a Tundra over a Nissan Titan in a heartbeat. Would I get a Tundra over a Silverado, Ram or F150…now that is a hard one.
