Formula Drift Atlanta :: 2019 Coverage

It’s hard to believe it’s been 15 years of Formula D Atlanta. I was at the very first event held at Road Atlanta back in 2004. It was an unforgettable night that is forever ingrained in my memory. Soaked in sweat and covered in dust, mud and tire flakes that night brought about a battle no one has seen before. A diminutive Toyota Corolla AE86 battling a Dodge Viper for first place. The yearning and cheering of the crowd filled that humid Georgia night as each had their favorite. The 86 had more of the crowd on its side but unfortunately after 3 hardfought back to back runs the motor overheated and had to retire.

Unfortunately nothing will come close to that night. Technology leads the way to innovation and today’s FD cars are purpose built machines covering all facets of the racing industry.

You want a fully electric powered race car? You got it. Have more of an expensive sensibility? How does a Ferrari sound to you? About that musclecar life? Oh yeah. Old school Japanese tuning fan? Come no further.
