What is it?
An old school body on frame SUV from yesteryear. The LX is based on the venerable Toyota Land Cruiser powered by a massive and thirsty V8 paired to a full time 4wd system and 8 speed automatic transmission with all matter of locking differentials and off road aids.
Why do I care?
Because it will last til the end of time. It’s one of the most over engineered and rugged vehicles on the road today. Its slathered in a high quality cabin and comfortable front seats.
Is it any good?
eh. Off road yes…it is amazing. Nothing short of a fully build Wrangler will keep up the LX when the road turns to naught. On the road…they are better options. It sways from turn to turn, the steering is vague, MPG is horrendous (11 in the city and 15 on the highway for our test) and the power just isn’t there. If it were our money..the Lincoln Navigator is a better alternative
