Michelin Defender LTX Review
Full Disclosure: Michelin provided these set of tires for review. If Michelin said ‘no’, I would have cried a bit but then bought these anyways. The following review would be the exact same regardless of the product placement or not. Michelins are simply the best — Yousef
If you are ‘normal’ human being then buying a set of tires is a chore. It’s not something ‘normal’ people tend to look forward to and with that mindset, they tend to walk into their local tire shop with an audible sigh. That sigh leads to the following verbiage uttered across stores everywhere:
Now, i’m not a ‘normal’ human being. I actually look forward to buying a set of tires because i’m weird. But there is a secret to my madness. An unknown truth that I want to share:
Tires are your key to everything…EVERYTHING on your car.
You want it to ride better? Get a good set of tires
You want better gas mileage? Get a good set of tires
You want better handling? Get a good set of tires
You want better braking? Get a good set of tires
You want it quieter? Get a good set of tires
….the list goes on and on.
But the list of tires you should choose…doesn’t. There is only one real option out there folks.
Michelin.
An industry benchmark since the age of rubber began, Michelin tires will always be the best choice in tires for your vehicle.
So when it came time to get a set of tires for our family truckster…I called up Michelin. Oh sure, I could have called a multitude of other companies but my babies ride in our VW Atlas and I will not settle for anything less than the best. With that in mind, let’s talk about the Defender LTX M/S.
The Defender LTX is based upon the beloved, tried and true light truck tire that dominated the market for decades…the Michelin LTX M/S. Let me share a quick story on that tire:
I sold tires back in college and one day this gentleman pulled up in an old Tahoe. He walked in asked for a boring rotate and balance, so I grabbed my tread depth gauge and walked outside to do an inspection. Ran my hands across all four tires to check for abnormal wear, visually checked for any cracking and placed the gauge to get a reading. I informed him that his tires read at 7/32s and overall look in great shape. The following is something I will never forget:
Just to make sure he wasn’t full of fecal matter, I pulled up his invoice history…lo and behold…he was right! He had over 100,000 miles on his Michelin LTX’s and they look pristine! From that day forward, it made me a believer in the Michelin brand for life.
But don’t take my word for it! Below you will find a link with actual consumer reviews on this newest variant of the venerable LTX M/X: Michelin Defender LTX
That’s right. 13 MILLION miles logged and an overwhelming majority of consumers would recommend these tires.
The Defender LTX M/S builds upon the rugged exceptionalism of the LTX M/S with a quieter tread compound, better wet handling, better dry handling and even longer wear! Add that along with being Mud and Snow rated, the Defender LTX is a tire that will overcome anything that is thrown at it. So it that was the only choice for my family and it should be for yours as well.
