This is it. This is the last V8 in a C-Class. This is the end of an era. What you have here before you is a tribute. It’s a tribute to all of those glorious cars in it’s lineage. The savagery that laid under their respective hoods and the tire melting power that they yielded…which gave way to a soundtrack that would make mountains crumble.

The unconfirmed rumors is that the next C63 will be powered by a 4 cylinder turbo. I’m sure it will be a fine unit. Shit, i’m sure it will be a great unit. BUT I promise you it will not deliver the visceral joy that this M177 delivers. The noise, the power and yes the civility…it’s just a thing of beauty that is unparalleled in the automotive world. Part of that AMG magic is the soundtrack that occupies the brutal shove of power. The V8 engine note is what you buy a C63 for and if that is missing…then….what is the point?

But let’s talk about this car and not what the future may bring. This C63S can be best described as a ‘psychopath in a tuxedo’. If you get cocky behind the wheel and with the throttle…it will snap your neck without a moment’s hesitation. BUT if you keep your wits about you….she can dance like no other on the road today.

The C63S is nothing but a pure driving joy. Happiness can be found careening this car down a mountain pass. The C63S pummels the road underneath it and it feels like it is attacking corners with not just zeal but with ferocity. Lay into the throttle and you will ride that perfectly tuned exhaust into the next bend or until you get arrested.

You want nothing else. You need nothing else. You just want to experience the drive. The noise. The power and the feel. This what AMG does. This is what makes AMG special.

Everything else fades into the background during that perfect drive.

You don’t care about the back breaking seats, the poorly trimmed trunk and the plasticy sun visor. You just want more of that AMG magic.

I have driven so many different cars throughout my career. This C63S is within the top 5. That’s how good it is.
